Direct Specialty Care in Bradenton, FL: Dermatology and Allergy Without Insurance Hassles
What Is Direct Specialty Care?
Direct Specialty Care means you come to us directly, and we work for you rather than for an insurance company. You know the cost before you book, you see the physician you came to see, and there is nothing to join. Original Medicare patients are welcome and billed through Medicare as usual. You may also see it called direct pay, cash pay, or self-pay specialty care.
How We Compare
Good care takes time, and a rushed appointment cannot give you any. What you receive at Harmony Allergy & Dermatology is a physician who has reviewed your history before walking in, who listens closely, and who gives you their full attention for the length of your visit.

Who Chooses Direct Specialty Care
This model tends to make the most sense for people who have run into a wait, a deductible, or a visit that ended before their questions did. In practice, that is most people.

Families
Parents managing eczema, food allergies, asthma, or a skin concern in a child who needs prompt care.
Working professionals
Anyone who cannot lose a day to a waiting room and would rather book a visit than manage a referral. Telehealth visits are available for allergy patients.
Retirees and seasonal residents
Original Medicare patients who want an unhurried visit, including those who spend only part of the year in Florida. Snowbirds can be seen for a single visit if needed.
Patients with high-deductible plans
People who find that an in-network specialty visit costs about the same or more before their deductible is met.
Patients without insurance
If you do not have health insurance, you can still see a board-certified dermatologist or allergist here. You pay the posted price, and no referral or coverage is required.
A Few Common Misunderstandings
When patients hear that we do not work through commercial insurance, a few assumptions tend to follow, and they are reasonable ones. It sounds like a membership. It sounds expensive. It sounds like something you have to choose instead of your coverage. None of the three turn out to be true.
There is no annual fee, no monthly fee (excluding allergy immunotherapy), and no roster to be accepted onto. You book a visit, you are seen. This is not a concierge practice and there is no retainer.
Prices are posted so you can plan around them. Many patients find a posted price easier to manage than a bill deductible they cannot predict. A new dermatology visit is $195; a new allergy visit is $250.
Keep your coverage. Many patients use Direct Specialty Care alongside it, particularly when the wait for a specialist is long, there is lack of transparency regarding costs, and a desire for a more patient centered experience.

How This Works for You
There are two ways to be seen at Harmony Allergy & Dermatology, and which one applies to you depends on your Original Medicare status. Both are simple, and neither involves an application, a waiting list, or a commitment beyond the visit itself.
If You Have Original Medicare
We participate in Original Medicare. Your visits are billed through Medicare exactly as they would be anywhere else, including if you are a seasonal resident who spends part of the year in Florida. Nothing about the Direct Specialty Care model changes how your Medicare benefit works, and therefore only covered services can be billed under Original Medicare.
If You Do Not Have Original Medicare
You pay directly for the care you receive, at a price posted before you book. We do not bill any insurance aside from Original Medicare. You will know the cost of your visit in advance, you pay the complete cost at the time of service, and nothing arrives in the mail afterward.
