Our Services

  • Skin testing to identify the specific environmental allergens causing your symptoms — pollens, molds, dust mites, and animal dander among them. The purpose is to identify the cause rather than manage symptoms indefinitely. Results are read during the same visit, and Florida's year-round pollen seasons are accounted for in your plan.

  • Evaluation and testing for peanut, tree nut, milk, egg, wheat, soy, sesame, fish, and shellfish allergies in children and adults, to determine which foods are genuinely causing reactions and which have been avoided unnecessarily. Families frequently leave with a shorter list of restrictions than they arrived with.

  • Supervised, in-office introduction of a food to confirm whether an allergy is present or has been outgrown. For many families this is the appointment that returns a food to the table after years or a lifetime of avoidance. Performed under the direct supervision of a physician fellowship-trained in pediatric food allergy management at Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital, in a practice located near a tertiary hospital.

  • Supervised testing to confirm or rule out a drug allergy, most often for antibiotics. Many patients carry a documented allergy for years that turns out not to be one, or to have been outgrown, which narrows treatment options unnecessarily and results in the use of more expensive antibiotics or ones with more side effects. Most commonly, penicillin allergy testing and challenges are performed, and roughly nine in ten people who believe they are penicillin allergic are not and can successfully pass.

  • Long-term treatment that gradually reduces sensitivity to the allergens causing your symptoms, addressing the underlying cause rather than using medication to temporarily mask the symptoms. It is a process of retraining your immune system not to react to your allergies, which takes time and attention to detail, and care is coordinated and monitored throughout. Environmental allergy immunotherapy is offered in the form of allergy shots or allergy drops, depending on patient preference, and food allergy drops are also offered.

  • Diagnosis and ongoing management of asthma in children and adults, including identification of the allergic triggers behind it and a plan you understand well enough to follow at home.

  • In-office lung function testing, performed before and after albuterol treatment, to measure how well the lungs are working and to track whether an asthma action plan is succeeding.

  • Testing to identify the contact allergen behind a persistent rash — a substance in a product, material, or other exposure. Testing includes three scheduled follow-up visits to read results accurately, and is the standard evaluation for contact dermatitis that has not responded to typical treatment.

  • Coordination, administration, and monitoring of advanced biologic treatments for severe allergic and immunologic conditions, managed within the practice rather than across multiple offices.

  • One practice for a child's first allergy evaluation and a parent's ongoing management, delivered by a physician who is double board-certified in both allergy & immunology and pediatrics. Immunodeficiency evaluations are also completed, which may include advanced immune testing and genetic testing, read and interpreted by the physician and then managed. Other conditions treated include allergic rhinitis and hay fever, chronic hives, angioedema, and eosinophilic esophagitis.

Please note: our practice does not currently specialize in the diagnosis or management of Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS).

DIAGNOSTIC TESTING & EVALUATIONS

magnific__fix-this-image-to-remove-the-yellowtoned-filtering__64226.png
  • A foundational diagnostic panel using skin-prick technique to test for common environmental regional allergens including pollens, molds, dander, and dust mites. Includes immediate evaluation of testing and a follow-up consultation with Dr. Bindernagel to review results and establish a personalized care plan.

  • A secondary, highly sensitive diagnostic procedure performed when standard skin-prick tests are negative or inconclusive despite persistent symptoms. Tiny amounts of specific allergens are injected just beneath the top layer of skin.

  • Targeted skin-prick testing evaluating IgE-mediated reactions to specific foods. Ideal for identifying suspected food allergies and guiding treatment strategies such as dietary avoidance, immunotherapy, or biologic therapy.

  • A medically supervised, gold-standard procedure to definitively confirm or rule out an active food or drug allergy. Under close clinical monitoring, small, incremental doses of the suspected food or medication are ingested to verify tolerance.

  • A structured clinical evaluation, including history, physical, and potential skin testing, designed to safely test and rule out reported penicillin allergies. Eligible candidates undergo an in-office oral challenge to remove inaccurate allergy labels and expand future antibiotic options.

  • An essential, non-invasive pulmonary function test measuring airflow and lung volume before and after administering an inhaled bronchodilator. Used to diagnose and monitor asthma, exercise-induced bronchospasm, and vocal cord dysfunction.

  • Comprehensive evaluation for delayed allergic contact dermatitis, such as metals, fragrances, and topical preservatives. Includes application of a 36-allergen panel and three dedicated follow-up visits to monitor skin reactions over several days.

SPECIALIZED THERAPIES & IMMUNOTHERAPY MEMBERSHIPS

  • In-clinic administration and monitoring of targeted biologic therapies such as Xolair, Dupixent, and Nucala for patients with severe asthma, chronic hives, food allergies, or nasal polyps.

  • Covers the active build-up phase, approximately 6 months, where doses increase weekly to retrain your immune system. Includes vial preparation, weekly shot administration, and 2 dedicated follow-up visits per year. Six-month minimum commitment.

  • Covers ongoing maintenance shots once the target therapeutic dose is reached. Includes shot administration and monitoring over a 3–5 year duration to achieve long-lasting immunity.

  • A needle-free alternative to allergy shots using custom daily sublingual drops taken at home. Includes custom vial formulations and 2 dedicated follow-up visits. Six-month minimum commitment; 3–5 year overall treatment plan.

  • An accelerated sublingual immunotherapy initiation protocol designed for patients seeking faster dose escalation under medical supervision to reach maintenance levels more quickly.

  • Specialized sublingual protocol to desensitize the immune system to specific food allergens. Includes 4 build-up appointments and custom vial formulation. Additional foods are $50 per food per month. Package does not include costs for lab evaluations and/or oral challenges to determine level of ongoing tolerance while on therapy.
